Life Member 132 Frederick (Fred) Scalf

We're sorry to report the passing of another one of our JCSE Veterans Association Life Members. MSgt, USAF (ret) Fred Scalf, JCSE-VA Life Member #132 passed away on June 29, 2019 after a valiant battle with a recurring illness. His Wife Judy, Son Freddie & Daughter Debbie were at his bedside. Fred came to the JCSE in 1975 & he remained until retiring from active duty in the early 1980s. He was a Master Parachutist & Pathfinder & he participated in many JCSE missions as a Quick Reaction Element Team Leader or Team Member. Fred had a quiet unassuming persona but those of us that knew him well, characterize him as an extremely competent military man who was loyal to his family; friends; military service & country. Equally important, he was a loving partner in life to Judy; & a wonderful Father & Grandfather to his children & grandchildren. Fred was a dear friend of mine for 44-years & he is sadly missed & I cherish the time we spent together both at work & at play.

Fred was 79, lived in Riverview, Florida & passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019. A 23-year veteran of the US Air Force, he was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret and brothers, James and Jerry. He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Frederick A. Scalf; daughter, Debra L. Chastain; brother, Roger A. "Bud" Scalf; sisters, Elizabeth Harshbarger and Barbara Howarter; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
