Life Member 075 William (Bill) Emmett
EMMETT, William (Bill), MSgt USAF Retired, of Tampa, FL passed away at the age of 67 on July 15, 2019.Bill was born in Chelsea, MA to William and Virginia Emmett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James (Jimmy) Emmett.
Bill is survived by Cheryl, his loving wife and best friend for 28 years, his sisters Virginia Emmett, Bradford, MA, Philis (Murray) Hewey, Haverhill, MA, Pam Pacione, Epping, NH and Kathy (Dan) Renalds, Salem NH; brother Mark (Linda) Emmett, Wildwood, FL, stepson John (Danielle) Cortright, Owego, NY, a granddaughter, three great grandchildren, many cousins , nieces and nephews, and a host of golf buddies.
Through his 24 years in the Air Force, he was able to spend more than 10 years in Europe and part of his high school years in Spain.
After retiring from the military, he joined the work force at what is now Kimball Electronics, where he made many friends, some of whom he turned into gardeners and golfers.
Bill’s passions were golf and his wife. His hobbies were his lovingly tended garden that he shared with his neighbors, along with gardening tips and tricks to whomever would ask. His Sunday and holiday meal posts were a joy for many, recipes of which he shared with everyone.
He was a kind and gentle soul who made friends wherever he went. He oozed friendliness and humor, and he never found a golf course he didn’t like.
He was active in the Joint Communications Support Element Veterans Association (JCSE VA), was a member of the American Legion Post 152 in Tampa, FL, and the VFW Post 2104 in N. Andover, MA.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27 at the American Legion Post 152 at 3:00 pm. He will then be taken home for a graveside ceremony at Ridgewood Cemetery on August 3, 11:00 am followed directly with a Celebration of Life at the VFW in N. Andover, MA. All will be open to anyone who wants to come to celebrate the life of this good and gentle man.
